MILITAR Y MAN'S WARNING. ADDITIONAL MONEY NEEDED. Tlie Inspector-General of Aus-ti-alian Military Foroes, General Sir Harry Cliauvel, addressing the officers and men of the 15th Light Hors© who were in camp at Grafton, New Soutli Wales, recently, said he looked forward to the future as being very serious indeed. They had in Australia a great country that was not popnlated, and on the other hand they saw many other countries that were much over-populated . They must he prepared to establish their right to tlie country hy populating it, for with such a small number of people they would have great difficulty in defending! it if oceasion arose. Until the people realised tlie position. and said more money should be spent 011 defeuce, such money CQukl not be made available. Tlie Defenee Department, Sir Harry said, did not ask for more than they tliought was necessary, but they did not get enough to make tlie defenee system wliat it sliould be. The efficiency they liad attained was due to tlie efforts of tlie officers and the men who maintained enthusiasm and used their time and energies in that direetion. Tliese needed encouragement from the citizens.
