AUCKLAND, Oct. 1. Believed to be the first prosecution of the kind Francis X. Bouzaid, an operator at the Queen s Theatre, Auckland, was charged this morning with smoking in the operating box and also witfi permitting ihe rewinding of a film during tlie performarice, such lewindiug being unnecessary . The Deputy-Chief Tnspoctor of Fxplosives said that tlie charges wero brought to obtain publieity and act as a warning to picture operators generally. The tiefendant was fined £2 on the first charge and £2 on tlie second and costs.
