TAKEN FROM DRINKING TROUGHS. A MOTORIST FINED.

AUCKLAND, Sept, 30. The practice of motorists in taking water for their radiators from horsedrinking troughs in the city was ref'erred to in the Police Court by Mr G. R. Hogan, Cliief Traffio Inspector, when a motorist was charged with the offence. Mr Hogan said that motorists plaeed greasy petrol ti 11s in the troughs and filled them with water, the result in many cases being that the contents of the troughs becam© too polluted for the horses to drink. It was a difficul't offence to detoct, but in tlie present cas© the defendant had been caught in the act. A fine of ten -shillings and costs was imposect
