(Received Sept. 28, 9.20 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 28. Among the losses in connection with the Hatton Garden mail-bags rohbery so far notified to the underwriters at Lloyds the most important is a diamond necklace valued at £3000. It is stated in other quarters that oue mercliant lost £10,000 worth of diamonds. [A most daring mail van rohbery, involving an unlpiown but certainly a large amount in diamonds and cheques, occurred. in Hatton Garden, tlie diamond centre of the world. A contraetor's van called at the Post Offioe, where a postman took bags containing registered letters and packages and placed them in the van, which was then driven to Smithfield Post Offtce. Here the postman signed for a further consignment. He returned to the street, where he was asteunded to find that the van and driver had disappeared. The police stations throughout London were immediateIv warned and the whole force were on the look-out. The van was found in a quiet street off Gosswell Road with the mail-bags gone.]
