ACCLIMATISATION

MEETING OF TH 3 SOCIETY. COUNTRY REPRESENTATTVES APPOINTED. At a meeting of the council of the Marlborough Acclimatisation Society, there were present : Messrs J. G. Bacon (chairman), M. Grace, Horrobin, Richardson, and Neville. Leave of absenoe was granted Messrs F. Mogridge, C. P. Hulme, and Dr Anderson. Tlie cliairman extended a warm welcome to the newly-elected council. References were made to the death of the' lato' preident (Mr Wm. Pollard) and to his generous bequest to the Society. A resolution expressive of oondolenoe with the relatives was passed by the meeting. It was decicled that Mr F. Mo.gridge be appointed honorary secretary and treasurer, and that Mr M. B. Wood be appointed to the council to fill the vaeancy so caused. The following eountry representatives were elected: Picton. Mr H . Robinson, ; Koromiko, Mr A. Macnab ; East Coast, Mr M. Wiffen ; Flaxbourne, Mr Walter McNabb ; Fairhall, Mr J. Graham ; Awatere, Constable Byrne. Representatives for the Rai Valley, Havelock, Ma.hakipawa, Ptelorus, Benopai, and Waihopai districts are to be appointed at a future date. At the cliairman's instarfce it ivas agreed that JMr Richardson be autliorised to interview tlie Minister for Internal Affairs regarding a subsidy for the Society. It was resolved to ask Messrs Miller and McKay and F. W. Adams to undertake tlie i'ssuing of game lieenses.
