TRAIN WITHOUT DRIVER
S'l'RANGE TUAIX ACOIDF.NT. A romarkable railway collision occurred shortly liefore 11 o'clock one night in Augiist at Alanors Station, Neweastle-on-Tyne, an olectrical train from the eoast eontaining soveral hnndred passengers colliding with a goods train running on an adjacent Jine. Great oonfusion resulted. The two front eari-iages of the train were practically wreeked, and six passengers reoeived slight injuries. When the electrie train dashed th rough Manors Station it was driverless. The driver, William Skinner, was subsequeiitly found deacl near Hjeaton Station, two or three miles away. He had evidently falleti from the train and been killed instantly, but it can onlv be conjectuned how the accident happcned. No official statement is yet forthcoming. Presuniablv, however, the driver had been leaning from the cab. window and been struck.by a bridge.
