Bates telegraphs as follows :—-The indications are for moderate to strong southeasterly winds, and backing to east to north ; there is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather, and the night will probably be very cold; barometer little movement, 'but has a falling tendency after about 24 hours; tides good and sea moderate swell.
