GERMAN TURNING MOVEMENT
MAJORITY -OF ATTACKERS
ANNIHILATED
BRUTAL AND FUTILE TACTICS.
(Received April 0, 9.40 a.m.) PARIS, April 5. A semi-official report, describing the attack .preceding th.) flight of the German" remnants to Chiiuffour Wood, says: "The enemy's object was to turn our' positions on the Douaumoiit ■ plateau. The majority of the attackers were annihilated "before' reaching our lines. It is noteworthy that the- troops were of inferior quality. They advanced shoulder to shoulder. The foremost ranks were' sacrificed to facilitate the advance of th-j second masses, composed of bettor fighters. These brutal -md futiie tactics show the disregard of hnniari material, contrailing Avith the French method of sparing their men. The enemy's losses were-never so ieri'ible as during the recent repulses at Avocourt, •DoiTaumoiit, and Vaux."
