T>ke infantry -strongly attacked south of Doaaumont m successive waves, followed by columns. Our artillery, machine-gun,- and <rifle-nre mowed them down, causing them to retreat in disorder to Cha«JFour Wopd, where fclie artillery inflicted furrier considerable losses.
We further progressed north of Qeillette Wood.
