Bates telegraphs as follows:—The. indications are for west--erlv winds, strong to gale, prevailing; the weather will probably prove .equally and changeable, and. clouding ovp,r. rain later; the barometer has a falling tendency; seas heavy; tides good. The following are the projected sailings for steamers in the* "Welling-ton-Picton-Nelson service in connection with Easter:—The Mapourika leaves "Wellington on Monday, the 17t>i inst., for Picton, Nelson, and Westport, but does not proceed on to Greymouth. The vessel returns ja> Nelson and loaves i'jnt port at 6.30 p.xn.' on tho 20th for Picton and Wellington. The Pateena-'will.leave "Wellington on Tuesday, \he 18th inst., for Picton and Nplson, leaving on the return trip on the 19th. Again on the 20th inst. R.he will leave Wellington at fioon for Picton only, returning the same evening, and sailing at 10 p.m. for Picton and Nelson, leaves the lastlmentioned port • again on Saturday, the 22nd inst., for Wellington in her ustial running. It is' to be noted! that there will be no Wednesday or Friday steamer from Wellington for Picton or Nelson in Piaster week.
