A LARGE;GATHERING. [Peess Association.] WELLINGTON, June 25. The fourth session of the eighteenth Parliament was T opened this afternoon by his Excellency the ! Governor, in fine weather and in the ; presence of a large gathering of i members of both Houses and the j general public. j -Punctually at 2.30 his Excellency .arrived at Parliament House, accom- » panied •by the Countess and a j mounted escort, provided by the '.Herotaunga Mounted Rifles. The Guard of Honor, formed by the C. Company of the First Regiment, 4. lined the approaches to the House, and as the Governor passed into the House ~the Royal Salute was fired by ( tlie New Zealand Royal Artillery, i His Excellency immediately proceeded to the Legislative Council, accompanied by the Black Rod and a number of officials, where the Speech from the Throne was read and Parliament declared open. The Address-in-Reply will be moved in the House by Mr Lee, Member for Oamaru, seconded by Mi- Sykes, Member for Masterton.
