COLLISION IN PORT.
SCOW PAHIKLSUNK
NO ONE HURT,

AUCKLAND, June 24. The Northern Company's steamer Olansman collided with and sank the «oow Bahiki in port at six o'clock this morning. ' The scow, loaded with sand and! .-•bangle, was sailing into port on tie •porfc tack. The Clansman wag also unrard bound. She struck the scow! Amidships, going clean through her. \ The crew of, the scow, named Obri&ittansen, master, and Gillet, and the letter's son, were thrown into the' water, the scow having sunk'in a few -seconds. m Christiansen was unable to swim and sank twice before he caught hold •of a piece of timber. All three were rescued by a boat from tlsy Clansman. The steamer was not damaged. The captain, second mate, and the man at the wheel on the Clansman assert that the scow was not showing lights and that the steamer was on top of the scow before they knew of the lat^r's proximity. The captain of the scow states that liis vessel was showing lights.
