WAIRAU ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Wairau Road Board was held this morning, the following members being present: Messrs R. F. Goulter (chairman), 6. Boyce, H. Hammond, J. Bell, W. Adams, and C. G. Teschemaker-Shute.
TENDERS
The following tenders were accepted : Erection of Boundary Creek bridge, Kirby and Co., £189: painting Waihopai bridge, Kirby and Co.. £18 ss.
FLAX RIGHTS
Information, regarding the' Board'd power to enforce .the payment or", royalties for the rights to cut flax along the roods adjoining the Top \ alley and Armchair creeks was received from the Commissioner for. Crown Lands. He stated that where the Board had spent money on roads they wore entitled to collect a royalty, for flax rights. Mr Belft considered that in this case they ought to abandon their claim, and allow the settlers to out the flax gratis.

MOTOR REGULATIONS
The Chairman explained that at last meeting it was assumed from a circular received from the Picton Road Board relative to* the regulation of motor traffic that the proposal referred to the northern half of the Marlborough County, in, which the Board had very little interest. Consequently it had not been deemed advisable to incur expenses which: would result from their support of the proposal when their district wa« so little affected. Since then, however, he had ascertained that th» measure was general in its scope, and he was therefore in favor of the introduction of by-laws. The proposal was commended by the other members, and it was decided!, as a result of a request from the Picton Road Board,,that as many members as possible attend tomorrow's conference/ GENERAL. Mr G. F. Watts, through his solicitor, notified Ms confirmation of the Board's resolution regarding the exchange of r,oad at Erina. In consequence of an application from E. Rowe, Fairhall, the Inspector was instructed to clear blackberries near the swing bridge adjoining the applicant's property. The Blenheim Borough Council notified that they had tar for sale at the rate of 25s per cask of 40 gallons, casks to become the property of buyers. The Inspector • recommended the purchase of two blades, for the grader, and this, with several repairs, was authorised. The Pelorus Road Board forwarded details of the next expenditure of £50 19s Id in connection with the inaugural ceremony at the Wairau bridge at Renwick. It was decided to notify Mr Corbett of tihe completion of the now Narrows road and that it should be fenced as : soon as possible. Mr Boyce and the Inspector were asked to'report at next meeting as to the cost of' making concrete pipes. The Inspector mado several recommendations in his report, which was adopted. A resolution to the effect that a stone wall be put across a branch, of the Wairau River on the Langley Dale-Bartlett's Creek Road was carried. „ iL The Inspector was further instructed to procure any necessary timber from Messrs Atkinson Bros. stock. . ■ . , After transacting minor business, the Board rose.
