THE SUPPRESSION OF "TATTERSALLS."
♦ Press Association. 'Electric Telegraph. Copyright. Hobart, March 30. The postal and telegraph officials are instructed to detain all correspondence addressed to Tattersall or any of his staff. In taking this step the PostmasterGeneral is acting on the opinion of the Attorney-General (Hon. A. Deakin) to the effect that " Tattersall's " plan to evade the Postal Act comes within the Act. The Premier of Tasmania (Hon. N. E. Lewis) has replied to Mr Barton that the question involved in the suppression of "sweeps" was not one of finance, but was an interference with State rights.
