Further particulars have been reoeived of the hot engagement fought on Monday at Bunnyside, 20 miles north-west of Belmont. The Boers were established on kopjes at Sunnyside, which range north and south. Leaving the natives guarded m order to prevent their divulging the movements cf the British, Colonel Pilcher, of the Nurthumberiands, and the Queenslanders under Major Rioardo, with 20. Canadians, two guns, ahorse battery, and 40 mounted men, (Captain Dodd being m charge of the Queensland ambulance) marched to within four miles of the kopjes. The Canadian guns were ordered to attack the enemy's laager at the foof. of the northern spur, while Col, Piloher with the Queenslanders worked splendidly on the left, taking advantage of every oover. Two shell* at the 1500 yards range landed amongst the tents m the laager, and this wa« the first intimation the enemy had of the presence of the British. The Boers hurriedly ascended and lined the kopjes, volleying hotly. Their fire was soon subdued. At the 1000 yards range the Canadians shelled with wonderful acouraoy. Major Ricardo, with Captain H, Q. Ohauvel's company, then delivered a front attack, demoralising and routing the Boers, whose laager, with 40 prisoners, was captured, be* sides the dead and wounded. Lieut. A. G. Adie, of Queensland, while patrolling before the attack was Beverely wounded. Bbisbanb, January 3. Sir Alfred Milner has cabled his congratulations on the success of the colonials at Funny&ide. He also intimated that Privates Rose, Jones, and Maclou'l, of the Queensland contingent, were killed.
