A CAVALRY ENGAGEMENT.
BOERS OUTMANCEJUVRED. PURSUED TOWARDS OOLESBURG. COLONIAL TROOPS TO WEAR HELMETS, Capetown, January 1. A force of reconnoitring cavalry, after six boura engagement with the Boers north of Dordreoht retired, when the Boers were reinforced by Artillery. General French's mobile force outmanoeuvred the Boers position, compelling them to vacate Reinsburg. A strong force of artillery and oavalry is now following them towards Oojesburg. Tha enemy have thrown up fresh 1 'fortifications at many points from •Colenio to Springfield.
