Further particulars were reoeived of the Kimberley fight. The enemy were completely routed, [and the whole of their supply, artillery, ammunition, gunpowder, gun lumber, waggon and Bpare oxen were oaptured. Major Turner then attacked the ridge where four redoubts were arranged. Three were captured after severe fighting, but the enemy receiving reinforcements made a desperate stand by the fourth. In leading the men against the last work, Major Turner was shot through the head and killed on the spot. This was the hottest part of the engagement, and as it was evident it could only be captured by a larger force with the point of the bayonet the British withdrew. The losses were 22 killed and 28 wounded. Two have since died. The Boers olung tenaciously to cover, and, their losses are unknown.
