Blenheim Borough Council.

Thk ordinary mooting was held on Tuesday evening, when were present the Mayor, (11. Dodson, Esq., in the chair, and Crs. Robinson, Taylor, Hodson, and Nosworthy. The minutes having been read, and confirmed, also a letter to the Colonial Secretary, certain accounts were presented. Lewis, c image and freight for seal, 13s. 6d., ordered to be paid. A. Dobson, for plan of the town ordered to accompany the petition for alteration of boundaries, £6. Cr. Nosworthy moved that it be paid, and explained that it had been incurred before the Council had any control in the town. It was one of the Txp'GlTsesTnciUTcirtff golling the Act applied to Blenheim. Cr. Robinson protested against its being paid at present, as being a very high charge. It was incurred by Mr. Nelson, to whom Mr. Dobson looked for the money, and he objected to its being voted until there was a fuller meeting. The Mayor thought it would be well to let it stand over, especially as Cr. Litchfield know more about it than anyone else. Amendment carried. Accounts for Clerk’s salary, Millington, and sundiy small items were ordered to be paid. Bomford's Bunk. —Cr. Nosworthy moved a resolution for the levying of a special rate for the purpose of repairing and raising this bank. Me did so in consequence of a petition received from the inhabitants of Grove Road, who considered it highly necessary, and were willing to pay such a rate. Cr. Robinson wanted to know if anything had been done in respect to the lease. The Mayor said a fair copy had been prepared and sent to Mr. Romford, but no reply had been received from him, and thought it would be well to get the lease signed before passing the motion. Motion withdrawn. Rigby's Ddch. Cr. Robinson moved the 'adoption of the Committee’s report, but wished to postpone the consideration of the subject for the present, until it was seen what amount could be contributed by the ratepayers in the neighborhood. Cr. Taylor had received promises to the amount of £l4 10s from four persons, which he felt sure would be paid; the work was estimated to cost about £3O. Cr. Hodson would like the money actually paid before the work was done. Cr. Nosworthy in seconding the motion, stated that he believed it a very desirable work, and which, when completed, would be very beneficial to those on the. south side of of the town. Bye-laws. Cr. Nosworthy moved the adoption of certain regulations affecting verandas, footpaths, hawkers, &c., which were discussed and passed. The motion for confirmation to be made on Jan. 18th. Cr. Robinson wished for regulations to secure uniformity in the heighth of footpaths, and thought such work should be done under the control of the Council. Notice of motion to that effect was given accordingly, after which the Council adjourned.
