NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been made to His Excellency |the Governor of New Zealand, by Decimus Atkinson, of the Fitzßoy District, in the Province of Taranaki, Gentleman, for the grant to him of Letters Patent under the seal of the said Colony, for the exclusive use within the said Colony of a new invention for Reducing the Iron Sand of New Zealand, and other finely granulated or divided metallic ores to the metallic state, without previous admixture with clays or other fluxes ; and, also, of Reducing Scrap Iron to marketable form by a like process, and, also of an improvement in the construction of Furnaces for the above purposes. And notice is hereby further given, that any person who may wish to prefer any objection to the granting of such Letters Patent, is hereby required, within four months from the publication of this notice, to send to the office of John Boyle Bennett, Esquire, Registrar-General, at Wellington, a in writing setting forth the grounds of such objection, subscribed with his proper name and address.
