“AN UNPURGED ROLL.”
—The ex-Spcaker, Maslb. P.O. To the Editor of the Marlborough Express. Sib, —Someone has said with great truth that language was given to man to conceal his thoughts, and I should think that was especially the case when Mr. Goulter made the speech, which one of your typo’s made a blunder in setting up, and well he might. If Mr. Goulter had any idea at all at the tune he was speaking, it must hare been a very nasty one, so he used long words to disguise it. What does he mean by “ the excrementitious portion of an unpurged roll” ? Query, what is excrement ? Answer : Dung. Ergo, all those dominant influences who voted against Mr. G. are a parcel of ———. Well, imagination must fill up the blank. We, no I, feel quite shocked to think of such an “ unwashed” crowd. What a pity some moral Hercules had not cleansed this Augean Roll, and swept all the “ excrementitious portion” into some temple of Cloacina, and shut the door. I am, &c., A.T.D.
