To the Electors of the Lower Wairau GENTLEMEN, —It is my intention to offer myself as a CANDIDATE to represent your District in the Provincial L ‘ Council. I consider the present state of our Trunk and District Lines of Road a standing disgrace to the Province, and shall, if elected, use my earnest endeavors to have the same remedied as soon as possible. I am favorable to the introduction of a Compulsory Drainage and Roads Act, and such a measure shall receive my best attention. ’ I rely on no party—have no personal P ends to seiwe—but will endeavor to act P fairly and impartially to every part of the Province ; and, having a considerable stake in it, am directly interested in the approt priation of Provincial Funds, and shall ’ endeavor to reduce our scale of expendi- ’ ture to its lowest limits, feeling assured that ail money spent in useless Salaries is L so much taken from our Roads and Bridges.
