The Taranaki.— From information received from a gentleman at the scene of operations, we learn that from the 7th August to 7 pm. on Saturday last, 5 lifts had been made, and the vessel hauled in shore altogether about 130 feet, and that the foremost head was nearly seven feet above the surface at low water ; but owing to the abrupt state of the bottom, the progress was consequently slow. Another lift was to be made at midnight on Saturday last. The mast head, we are informed, looks quite sound. A number of hands arrlvedj'by the Airedale on Wednesday last to assist the operations.— Press.
