BLENHEIM LITERARY INSTITUTE.
In accordance with notice, the Annual Meeting of the above Institute was held on Tuesday evening last. Mr. A. Dobson took the chair, and about 20 persons were present, all of whom were members. The Chairman opened the proceedings by briefly explaining the position of the Institute, and reading the minutes of the last annual meeting, which were adopted without remark. The election of officers was then proceeded with. That for the office ot Patron was postponed sine die. Mr. W. Norgrove was unanimously elected President; Mr. John T. Robinson having been proposed, but declined to serve. Messrs. Morley, W. Nosworthy, Johnson, and Syms, were nominated us Vice-Presidents, and upon a ballot, Messrs, Johnson and Syms were elected. Messrs. Nosworthy, Carter, and Cribb, were nominated for the Treasurership, and upon a ballot Mr. W. Nosworthy was elected. Mr. C. J. Rae was elected Secretary, without competition, and the following Committee elected by ballot: — Messrs. Carter, John T. Robinson, Cribb, vMorley, and Augustus. A vote of thanks was then passed by acclamation to the chairman lor his past services. A special general meeting was then held for the consideration and altering of the rules, when the following resolutions were passed : “That the subscription to the Institute be 10s. per year, payable in advance.” “ That the sums paid since the commencement of the quarter be carried to the credit of the year’s account for each member.” “That the committee form a sub-committee for the consideration of the rules. To report to an adjourned meeting.” “That this meeting be now adjourned until Monday evening, February Bth.”
