MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT.
The following letter received since our last explains itself. We may remark that the Act is extrt mely vague on the subject. A meeting is calk a lor \ * t dnesaay evening next, when the draft of another Petition will be submitted;— “ Colonial Secretary’s Office, *• Wellington, October, 1868. “ Gentlemen, —I have the honor, by the direction of Mr. Stafford, to acknowledge the receipt of your Petition to his Excellency cue Governor, praying that a certain district described therein may be constituted the borough of Blenheim, under the provisions of * The Alunicipal Corporations Act, 1867.’ “ The Petition has been duly laid, before the Governor; but as it asks to have incorporated only a part of the Town of Blenheim, anu as the Act referred to does not permit of this being done, his Excellency cannot be advised to grant the prayer of the Petition.—l have, &c., “W. Gisborne, Under-Secretary. “ Messrs. James Sinclair, J. Shaw, “and others, Blenheim, Marlborough.”
