“A MARKED MAN,” OR ANY OTHER MAN.

To the Editor of the Marlborough Express. Dear Sir, —Through the medium of your widespread journal, will you oblige three old subscribers by inserting the following. Casually, seeing the News some few' weeks hack, we stumbled over a concoction oi something trying toquoie l.avv, Justice, and sundry other things of which the assumed writer certainly had but little .knowledge, it any. As to the latter term. Justice, it is universally known that he does not know its meaning, except in matteis pointing to b-elt, in which there can. Jig-no doubt he experiences a considerable shate. but, recurruig to the letter, we

cannot help smiling when we see how cautiously the author has erected the screen Supposition before a “ marked man. This may have acted Well-enough to blind “ now chums,” but the screen required to be of a much stouter nature to keep the glare of this “marked man’s” character from the eyes of experienced sufferers. Yet be this as it may, we will puss over the past, doings of this supposed “marked man,” and refer the public t» bia present unmanly diabolical action. To annoy a neighbour for no justifiable cause whatever^this now directly “marked man” removes his closet to the opposite side of his yard, and places the noble whitewashed edifice within a tew feet ot his neighbour’s door, and but a lew inches from his well, thus preventing its use. In addition to this demoniacal act —for no better term can be used —is the filthy scene presented at the living-room window of our injured townsman ; namely, the free access allowed and eucouiaged ... to every drunken man that cun be induced in ignorance to visit it. Even these, heedlessly led by the aid of grog, when restored to consciousness, look upon their own actions .with, shame and disgust. In conclusion we trust the authorities will use measures for the removal of this scandal, the more especially on account of the present ill state of the public health. We are Sir, &c., Health, Pbaob and Jdstice. Blenheim, Aug, 27th.
