ARRIVAL OP THE DUKE OP EDINBURGH IN ENGLAND. Galle, July 15. A complimentary dinner has been given to Sir John Young. The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Portsmouth on the 26th June, in robust health. He was feted in every place. A thanksgiving day was appointed by the Queen for his recovery. The “Treason Felony Act” of New South Wales is returned for amendment. Australia won the rifle match by two points ; Lynch, of Sydney, taking the Ist prize. The Abyssinian captives arrived in England on the 27th June. Parliament passed a vote of thanks to General Napier. It is said he will be offered a Peerage. The Princess of Wales has given birth to a Princess. President Johnson has issued a proclamation pardoning Southern rebels. Mr. Pope Hennessy is not to be Governor of South Australia. Some think that Governor Eyre will receive the appointment. The Irish Church Appointment Suspension Bill was thrown out by the Lords, after three days debate; majority, 102 to 97.
