MARLBOROUGH ONLY AT FAULT.

To the Editor of the Marlborough Express. Sin, —The Editors of public journals, I conceive, are those who should watch carefully the action, taken by the other provinces, and lay before their readers the movements of public bodies throughout the colony on all political matters ; and now be good enough to answer me this question,—Why is Marlborough the only province that has not had its public meetings, expressing sympathy with H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh, and forwarding to the Throne of England proof of the loyalty of Her Majesty’s subjects in this province? Is it because between Blenheim and Picton, there exists a petty rivalry, carried far beyond the limits of either good ’ sense, reason, or policy, or is it because apathy and laziness characterise every move for good in our midst ? On those platforms (from which have emanated

the most loyal sentiments throughout New Zealand), Marlborough has neglected to record its patriotic voice ; yet surely on such an occasion its people might have met, and without distinc ■ tion of either creed, class, country, or colour, placed its vote with those of the other provinces of New Zealand on the seat of loyalty ? Air. Editor, who is to blame, if not the leaders of the place.

Blenheim, April 24th, 1868. Enquirer
