ON THE DEATH OF GEORGEY BALL, t.:.' Accidentally Drowned, April 4, 1868. r\H ! whisper low the darling’s name, vJ His mother’s heart is crushed ; Her agonizing shrieks proclaim ’ S.* The voice in Rama hushed. Like Rach&el, in her mourning hour, feg No comfort can she find ; Snapped are the tendrils of the flower, ... -That round her hearts were twined. Swefit dove of Peace, do thou descend And .calm her wild despair, While whispering angels o’er her bend, Tell of his glory there. Heart-broken father, raise thy eyes, - • r While faith dispels the veil That wraps thy darling in the skies, Where angels’ songs prevail. Thy mortal eye may then behold In robes of dazzling white, .',.,1: 'Another lamb within the fold jo • ■ ’Mid Angel-hosts so bright. c 7 , Dear George ! in memory’s fondest page, ; I’ll twine a wreath for thee ; «:i -. The bud was plucked of tender age To bloom eternally. . i When last his mother saw his face Lit up with childish joy. Sweet thoughts of heaven had found a place ; J ' In the bosom of her boy.
