WESLEYAN CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.

The Anniversary Sermons in connection with the above church were preached on Sunday last, by the Rev. R. L. Vickers of Nelson, to crowded congregations. Last evening, (Good Friday,) the annual Tea Meeting was held in a marquee behind the church, of which it will be sufficient to say that there was the customary ample supply of good things, presided over by the ladies of the congregation, and surrounded by a crowd of happy faces, who did justice to the cheer provided. After tea, a public meeting was held. The Rev. W. Leo, the minister of the church, took the chair, and in his address, gave a general statement of the progress of the work of God, in this circuit during the year. At the commencement of the year, the number of full and accredited church members (including only such as met in class,) was 44, with 4on trial for church membership. Now, there were 67, with 7on trial. The Sunday School also had increased, and was in a most satisfactory state. Two lectures had been given for the benefit of the library, which it was hoped would prove a source of lasting benefit. The congregations both in town and country, remained good. In consequence of present inability to furnish sittings for those requiring them, it had been decided to enlarge the church in such a way as would not be very expensive, or interfere with further enlargement if necessary. He trusted that all would join heartily in this object so that it might be completed without debt. Other interesting addresses were delivered by the Revs. A. Russell, R. L. Vickers, and other friends. The proceeds of the Anniversary Services were not known in time for publication, but we shall probably be furnished with the information before next issue. The following cash account for year ending 31st March, was presented to the meeting:—
