DISTRICT PRIZE SHOOTING.

The Firing for the District Prizes by the Blenheim Subdivision of the Marlborough Rangers, came off at Amersfoort on Monday last, and as usual, the wind was anything but favorable. The following is the score : First Class.

T. Jeffries and F. Gane were ties at 41, in the 2nd class, and consequently had to shoot one shot at 400 yards, when Gane missed, and Jeffries made an outer (2), therefore he was declared winner of the first prize, and Gane second. The result of the several Shootings here and at Picton, may be summarised thus : Mr. D. Guy, Picton, and Mr. John Tait, Blenheim, will go to Wellington to compete for the Colonial Prizes. Mr. T. Warner, Blenheim, wins the Champion medal, and the first prize in the Ist class, £7 10s.; Mr. Philpotts, Picton, second prize, £5. In the second class, Mr. T. Jeffries, Ist, £5., and F. Gane, 2nd, £2 10s.
