KAIKOURA— Tuesday, Jan. 14 TH, 1868.

[Before C. R. Keene and H. Inglis, Esqs.]

Edward Clarke , publican, of Kaikoura, was charged by the police with having committed a breach of his license, by selling fermented liquors on the race ground on the 26th of December last, not having his license extended to exercise such privilege. Defendant admitted the offence, and was fined the lowest penalty of two pounds. Charles Evans, publican, was also charged by the police with having committed a similar offence at the same time and place. This case was adjourned until next Court day for the production of fresh evidence for the defence.
