GORDON TOWN BOARD.
A special meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday evening, when there were present — Messrs Brown (chairman). Hunter, Ryder, and M'Gill. Mr Hunter moved, according to notice, that a rate of Is in the £ be struck on all rateable property in the Town District, such rate to be payable, in one sum, on or before January 7th, 1885. — : Mr Byder seconded tho motion, which was carried. A letter was read from James Sparks complaining that parties were in the habit of bathing in the Waikaka near his house and running about the banks in a state of nudity, " which was a great inconvenience to, any lady." He suggested that a chain of board fence would, meet the case by making . the place private. The meeting being a special one, the letter was held over till the ordinary meeting. Mrs Kowe wrote offering the use oEc the hall at L 6 per annum. — Also held over for the interim action of the chairman. Tenders were then opened for the office of town clerk, collector, valuator, inspector of nuisances etc. ; and out of four offers that of Mr R. Gardner, . Gordon, accepted at L2O per annum for the whole services. The meeting then adjourned.
