The Stud. nnO TRAVEL THIS SEASON, IN THB J- MATAURA, GORE, and FORTROSE DISTRICTS, should sufficient inducement offer, THE PUKE-BRED CLYDESDALE STALLION SIR COLIN-PRINCE! SIR Colin-Pkinck, foaled in December, 1879, was bred by Robert Mutr, North Taieri. He is a beautiful dark bay, stands J I6J- hands high, with fine sj'mnaetry, splendid action, and fine mild temper. Sire, the Champion Sirf> of New Zealand, is a bright bay, lGi hands high. Sire, Prince Charlie ; dam, Princess Maud the First (imp.) Prince has gained many first prizes, and bis stock cannot be surpassed. The Kyneton Agricultural Sociejty awarded four of his yearlings first prize for the best four yearlings, competing against stock of two imported horses ; and in New Zealand, horses sired by him have beaten all the imported horses at the Dunedin, Taieri, and Christchurch Shows. His stock has brought higher prices than those of any other horse in New Zealand, and as an example it may be mentioned that during the past year Mrs NIMMO has sold over £1500 worth of Prince's get. For purity of breeding he is not equalled in the Colony, for, as will be seen by the pedigrees and list of honors, both bis sire and dam are descended from horses of the best strains of Clydesdale blood, and both were famous prize-takers in Scotland and Victoria. At a recent National Show in Victoria, a yearling filly by Prince gained first prize. Prince also took first prize at the Waikouaiti and Shag Valley Shows of 1872 and 1873, and the first prize at the Blucskin A. and P. Society's Show, 1873. At the Taieri Agricultural Society's Show, 1882, a yearling filly by Prince was awarded first prize for the best mare or filly in the yard, competing against age.l mares, and on the same day a brood mare, mother of two fillies by Prince, carried off the first prize for the best mare and two of a progeny. Dam, Bell ; grauddam, Nell ; g-granddam, Maggie Lauder ; g-g-granddam, Blanche ; g-g-g-granddam, Dr Wilmore's Flower. Bell's sire, Sir Colin, one of the purest bred Clydesdales ever imported, Nell's sire, Glasgow Geordie, by Champion, out of A. Warnock's Maggie. Champion, better known aa Kilburnie Champion, bred by Mr Fleming, Auchenbowie. G-sire, Prince Charlie, dark bay, foaled 1855, of the pure Clydesdale breed, imported from Scotland ' by J. and M. Mackintosh, where he had been exhibited seven times and gained seven First Prizes. He gained the prize, of £15 at the Highland and Agricultural Society's Show at Glasgow, in 1857, against thirty others. He was bred by Mr Anderson, Drummore. In Victoria, Prince Charlie gained First Prize at the Gisborne Exhibition, 1858, the P. P. F. Society's First Prize of £20 and Champion Cup i*n 1859, 1860, and 1802. Since that time lie has not been shown. The progeny of Prince Charlie have taken prizes in every part of the colony. Prince Charlie, out of Tibby, the property of Mr Ander3on, Drummore. Tibby won over twenty prizes in her time, and was never beaten but once, and then only by her own dam. Dam of Prince, Princess Maud First. Bay, foaled August, 1853 (imported from Scotland by J. and M. Mackiutosh). In Scotland Princess Maud gained 18 prizes, including a Silver Medal in Glasgow, when a three-year-old, against all ages. The same year she gained the Prize of the Highland Agricultural Society held at Inverness ; she also gained First Prize at Dumbarton two years in succession. In Victoria she gained First Prize at Gisborne, 1858 ; Port Phillip Farmers' Society's First Prize, 1859, 18G0, 1861 and 1862 j also Gippsland Agricultural Society's First Prize in 1863 and 1864. Bred by William Park., Esq. Dalmuir, Dumbartonshire ; sire, Scotchman, the property of James Salmon, Esq., Renfrewshire. Her dam has bred several good horses, including the famous horse Rob Roy. Terms : £4 — Half guarantee ; £2 at end of season, and -&2 when mare proves in foal. All mares sold or exchanged after first service will be held as in foal. Groom's fee, 6s. THOS.
