Mr John Carroll of the Farmers' Rest Hotel Wrey's Bush, was accidentally killed neai Winton. on Monday afternoon. He had been in Winton on business and had mounted hi: horse to return home, when the animal be '^aiue restive with him and bolted. Turning up the tramway the horse galloped into the bush, and Mr Carroll was, it is 'surmised dashed against a tree and so unseated. Hf was seen almost immediately after by M"r D Hishon, but even then he was quite, dead Dr Hocter examined the body and found the head to be completely crushed. The dccca 1 * ed was much respected in the neighbourhood and leaves a widow and several young chil. dren. The body was taken to the Commercia' Hotel, Winton. An inqueht waß not considered necessary.
