LAND BOARD MEETINGS.
OTAGO. Mr J. A. Connell, for D. Ballantyne, gave notice of the abandonment of sec6, block VII., Wendon district. Thomas Trumble requested permission to xU'azD stock over section 3, block I, Slopedown, on condition of keeping the land clear of rabbits. — Eeferred to the Chief Commissioner. The Town Board of Mataura requested that sections 1, 2, 3, block XVI, of that township s.houlcl be . withdrawn * from sale, being required for road purposes. — Agreed to. The Wyndhnm Town Board requested that sections 68, to 73, block "VI. Wvndj ham, should be withdrawn from sale and vested in the Board, as also the lignite and Athenaeum reserves. — Declined. Tko following tenders for suburban deferred payment land were accepted : — Section 27, block I. Wyndham (five acres), Herbert Burfield, (LlO 10s (five applicants) section 77, James Burns, LH 10s 6d (throe) ; section 78, John Burns, Ll6s 10s (four) ; section 79, John Wyatfc, Lll 5s (five). The upset price, was L 5 per acre. Mr J. A. Connell, for Donald M'Lcan, \ applied for a license to mine for coal over seven acres of section 17, block VI, Chatton,at LI per acre. — Ranger Hughan recommended that the application should be granted, as the demand for coal was increasing throughout the district, and settlers were anxious that another pit should be opened.— Mr Mouat, for T. Grovor, objected. — It was resolved that the license be granted for seven year?, at a yearly fee of LI per acre, with fee of Ll for license. SOUTHLAND. Applications were granted as follows for allotments in the village of Balfour : — Section 1. John M'Pherson ; section 7, Mary M'Pherson; section 13, John Tumbull ; section 21, "William Keown.
