CONCERT AT RIVERRSDALE.

A concert .took place at, Riversdale on evening last in aid of the wido;w arid' orphans of the late Mr G-. Ballqch, baker. , The attendance was remarkably good, about 160 persons from far and near being present. The programme was not wanting in either quantity or quality. Mr Tomlin sang " The moon belrnd the Hill" and "I will stand by my friend," carefully. Mrs Gee .rendered "Barney O'Hea" and " Maggie's Secret," with her usual good taste. Mr Tanner, who possesses a good voice, sang " The Bridge " and " Goodbye, Sweetheart " with expression. Mrs Gray and Mr Aitken sang a duet. Mrs McKenzie recited " Bingen on the Rhine." Mrs Mills deßerved the applause she received for " Little Footsteps " and " Silver threads 1 among the gold." Mrs Moffit.'s two .songs, . "Little Hell " and "Ask me again," were duly appreciated. Miss ' Milries' nervousness slightly marred the rendering of " » T uauita " and "Jessie's Dream," which was otherwise faultless. Mr Carroll gave a song, "The Pilot," and a recitation, ■which were both well received. Mr Savage gave two recitations, the general opinion being that he is destined lo become a great elocutionist. The funny element was supplied by Messrs Leary, Lewis, and Green : Mr Ayre's local hits in " The Temperance Question,'' causing roars of laughter. Mr Leary yas. as usual simply inimitable, and the audibnee never seemed to have had enough of Mr Curran's dancing. Mr Simson was to have favored, and the audience were on the tiptoe of expectation fell eveningjbut the gentleman appeared not. A farce entitled " The Model Husband," brought the 1 programme to an end at 11.45 p.m., when dancing commenced. Too much praise cannot be accorded Messrs Leary and Tomlin for the artistic manner in which the hall was decorated.
