As a two-year old, he took First Prize at the Mataura P. k A. Society's Annual Show, and Second Prize as a threeyear old at the Southland A. & P. Princess Maggie, the winner of 27 first and three second prizes, was ,-bred by Messrs Nelson Thomson, Victoria ; her sire was Heather Jock, by the renowned prize-taker, Blackleg. " Young Prince Charlie " is a beautiful dark bay horse, four years old — bred by Mrs Nimmo, of the Taieri —by Prince ; dam Gentle. Prince, the champion sire of New Zealand is a bright bay ; sire, Prince Charlie (imported) ; dam, Princess Maude First. Prince has gained many first prizes in Victoria, and his stock cannot be surpassed. He also took first prizes at the Waikouaiti and Shag Valley Shows of 1872 and 1873 ; also first at tbe Blueskin Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show, 1873. Prince has an excellent temper, immense bone, superior action ; is a sure foal getter, and is acknowledged by competent judges to be the best' Clydesdalebred horse in the colony. Gentle, by Champion, out of Betty, by Performer (imported) ; dam, Bess, imported by Captain Gardiner. Betty gained first prize as a one-year old in Melbourne in 1854 ; second as a two-year-old in 1855 ; and an honorary certificate as a three-year old in 185 G. By the above it.will be seen that Young Prince Charlie has descended from the purest strain of Clydesdale blood ever imported into the colony. Terms : £3, half. guarantee. Groom's feo, ss.
