Sir,— Tou willno doubt have noticed that Mr.Outhberfc Cowan, of Benmore, is likely to be a candidate for the Hokonui seat at tho next election. There are many, especially among the fair sex, who will wish that the probability may eventuate in a reality, for with {Mr Cowan in the House we might fairly hope for the passing of those lawg which, required to free the sex from many disabilities under which they labor at present. On the other hand, men who decoy young women from the path of virtue escape too lightly under existing enactments.
