# Timartj, May I.— John Walter Garland, licensee of the Arowhenua hotel,near Temuka shot his wife in the bedroom at 6.30 this morning, and then shot himself. Garland died instantly, arid' when the matter was reported to the police Mrs Garland was dying, jealousy is reported to be the cause of the terrible act.
