WAIMEA RAILWAY TAX.
MEETING AT LTTMSDEN. A well attended meeting was held, at Jbumsden on Saturday evening with a view .to arrange what action should betaken to resist payment of the tax proposed to be levied by the Waimea Plains Railway Co. The first was carried unanimously, y?s& to the. effect that in event of the Company insisting upon payment of the tax, the ratepayers should combine to oppose payment, ' the necessary expense to be divided -pro fata among the ratepayers.
