Sir, — Having carefully oxamincd your ' Herbal Extract,' I find it to he a. skillfully prepared vegetable preparation, possessing the properties of the plants from which it is derived in a highly concentrated state, a fact whioh I have ver-itied by evaporating a fluid drachm placed in a watchgla c s over a spirit lamp. On weighing the result, a dark green extract, I found the weight to be I\\ grs. On further submitting the extract to analysis I found it to be righ \a tannin, In a large number of oases of ordinary diarrhoea, as well as in many chronic cases and in dysentery, I have proved it to possess great specific control, added to the inusual feature in a majority of dia.xhoea medicines, that it does not subsequently constipate the bowels.
