PRESBYTERY OF SOUTHLAND.

Wednesday, 2nd April, 1884. The Presbytery of Southland met fhia cl-oj— present, the Revs. J. Ferguson (Moderator), and Messrs McKenzie, Cameron. Baird, Wright, Henry, Davidson, and Alexander, minister*. Mr McKenzie was appointed Moderator for the ensuing year. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Ferguson, that the clerk communicate with those congregations which hive not Pent in the recordsof Session --nd Deacons' Courts, that they he produced at next meeting of Presbytery. The question of the erection of the new parish of Gore having been brought up, and the minutes of the Conference appointed I by the Synod having bepn received, Mr ! Ferguson made the following motion, which j -was seconded by Mr "Baird. nnd agreed to :— ' " Having received the Minutes of Commission of Synod appointed to consider the sanctioning of a new charge at Gore, intimating that, in virtue of the powers given it by the Synod, the Commission had sanctioned Gore, with the district naturally lying into it. a=> a full ministerial charge, and altering the boundaries proposed by the Presbytery, so_ that the boundary line shall xun through Diamond Peak to Kmpdalc boundary, re■plved to relieve Mr Davidson of the ministerial charge of Gore parish as from the 6th instant, appoint him Moderator of the congregation while vacant, and request . the Church Extension Committee to furnish interim supply." It was also agreed that no new arrangments be made with respect to the boundaries. Mr Wright having made enquiries to what parish Wendon and Wendon-side belonged, the Presbytery appointed Messrs W Wright, and W. Panton Brown to report with respect to these places and Mandevilleat next meeting of Presbytery, by the cocgragation of Orepuki. Mr Henry having tendered his resignation of the charge of Lower Mataura, Mr Alexander was appointed to preach on Sunday, 6th April, at Wyndham, &c, and intimate the intended resignation to the respective congregations, and summon them to appear for their interests at a general meeting of the ..Presbytery, to be held on Wednestay, the 23rd instant, at 11 a.m. . . The Moderator, having loft the ohair, give in a repqrt of having administered the Sacrament of the Lord's flapper at Dipton and Lumsden, according to appointment of the Presbytery, and expressed the dosire of the people at Dipton that steps he taken to from a new parisn to ipclude the districts of Dipton, Hillend, Benmore, and Fernhill as more satisfactory than the present arrangement.
