He estimates the revenue this year at L 2,500,000 or an increase of L12i.000 over ; that of last year, and calculates that there ! will be a surplus at the end of the present i year of LBO,OOO. Melbourne, Jan. 24. Some cue is believed to have been obtained in connection with the murder recently committed near Geelong. The police have found a revolver in a pond near the scene of the outrage and also a bullet which has been proved was purchased at Geelong a fortnight ago. Nearly four inches of rain have fallen at Melbourne since Sunday last the rainfall is quite unprecedented.
