THE COMPLAINT FROM WAIKAIA.
-, — ~~+~. — -^-~ TO THE EDITOR. Sin, — A letter in your issue of 27th inst. signed " Materfamilias," which is a tissue of falsehood throughout and written in a vindictive spirit towards me, was brought under my notice to da.y. Th.c ru.dely drcuyn picture alluded tQ was. t^e production of a Waikaia resident, who, I own, had the decency to disguise the profane and indecent language alluded to, otherwise I pertaialy should not have placed it in my window. Such a letter does me no harm in this district, for my character will stand the test of fifteen years' residence without a stain. My traducer would give his right hand to be . able to say the same with trnth. I merely trouble you with this to enable ypu to, guard against a man so, totally devoid of principle anjl honor.— J ain, &c, ! WM, LAWfIENQB, [We don't require to be warned against th£ machinations of a man, because in this pase "Materfamilias " happens co. a woman. W£ have taken the liberty of slightly altering Mr Lawrence's letter, which originally pointed clearly to a certain gentleman in Waikaia as the writer o£ the pom,m.un;cation inJQur last iss^e.— Ed. Ensign.]
