THE KNAPDALE TROUBLE.

/♦ , . ■ TO THB EDITOR. . Sib,— There appeared in your issue of the 6th November, a local referring to the actions of the Knapdale singing olaas and teacher. Although . right with regard to the teacher, you have b«en nminfonced as to tke conduct «f said class, who bore the usurpation of their rights in a Christian spirit. With reference to the outrage committed, as stated, it was done on Saturday night (as near as I can learn) between the hours of 9 and 10 p.m. Ido not believe that it was committed by any member of the ainging-clais, seeing that any misconduct on their part would debar them from their much enjoyed privilege. In conclusion, I deem it necessary to ask both teacher and chairman for an explanation of their • conduct, seeing that the chairman knew four days beforehand that the teacher meant to stop the singing, and took no official steps to prevent the collision ; and when sent for refused to act in the matter, although the teacher positiyely refused admittance upon the ground that he had received authority from the chairman, whose .honored position fell to that of an eavesdropper on the. grass behind the assembled crowd. 'As the community reaps the fruit of the actions and influence of all public officers, actions like these rtquire an explanation. — I am, tec, William Johnston. Knapdale, November 8, 1883.
