Sympathy.
Soft fell the light of the silver moon, : • And streamed through the boughs of the . apple tree; .•: ■ ' > The night was still as the stillest noon, Breathless with awe or ecstacy. My .friend and ' t in the garden stood ', ' Silent ,an'd sad no woid did we say ; ' for he was wrapped in a sombre mood— His Bister had died bixt jesterday. At length he told how his sister had died ; ; With a trembling voice he told me all, i And softly and sadly the west wind sighed, Mingling with hush »f the river's fall. i tittle or none spake I to him ; Mine eyes in silence spoke for me ; My heart looked out from eyes which were ' dim i With tears that arose in sympathy. :
