MATAURA.
(From our own Correspondent.) Pine weather, followed by genial Bhowers, has favored the operation of sowing in this district f At the recent leasing of the Educacational .Reserves, the bulk of the land has fallen to the original holders. The railway goods shed is now being removed t) the opposite side of the line, a point farther south than that at present occupied, and near to the engineering premises of Messrs Lowden & Co. This will tend somewhat to divert the traffic. # , The recent gift auction in aid ot the Church building fund, realised lAW after deduction for all expenses. J his amount together with a subsidy from the Synod if such be available, will place our Presbyterian friends in a. good position. It is not unlikely the local Church choir will give an entertainment at Gore shortly. Mataura, October Ist, 1883.
