CREDITORS' MEETING AT GORE.
A meeting of the creditors of G. T. Ros.", road contractor, was held at the Gourthouse on Wednesday last,, a considerable number being present, but some of these bad not come prepared with proof*. Mr A Fletcher was voted to the chair. The schedule ef auets and liabilities lodged with the Registrar was not exhibited, consequently we are enable to state the asset* and liabili ies. Mr Alex. Brown having been elected trustee, the bankrupt was examined at some length. He said-I am 27 years of age, and have been in business six years. I have never convened my creditors before. I began to find myself in difficulties about eighteen months ago. I was then contracting on the road?. I then was about £80 or £90 behind. I have taken no large contracts since, except one subcontract for about £400, and I think 1 have had no other above £50. The sub-contract is with Hoffman, and was made about the end of June last. I stood then much as I stand now, about £280 short. I lost a lot of my crop this year, about £100. It cost me £42 for ploughing £29 for oats, and £18 odd also for oats. The threshing cost £18 odd, harvesting £20. I sold the crop to the Loan and Mercantile Company, for £120, about November. I then owed the Colonial Bank £100, which I paid cut of the loan from the company. The company's expenses were £21. I did not pay for the ploughing or oats, only about £15 for harvesting. The threshing is not paid for either. I expected the crop to realise £200 or £300 more, I got no money from the company for ploughing or harvestbut £5 6s for carting. I did not tell the Sheddans I had given a lien. lam also due £50 for rent. 1 lost the £100 I had to pay the Bank on road contracts. I did not tell any one I was losing on the roads." Bankrupt further deposed that he had about 12th Jnly last received £57 from the contract with Hoffman, wiih which he had with one exception paid the men, but he owed about £16 to those who had been working since. Made bo arrangement with Hoffman before filing M to how the contract, which was a paying one, was to be carried on. There was no one in partnership with him.
