Monk, Dunedin : frend large diarrhoaa bottle Duncan, Roxburgh, through by coach Monday morning without fail. —0. MacOurthy. Rangiora, .Tuty 7, 1881. Sir Having carefully examined the N.Z, Herbal Extract, I ond it to be a skilfully prepared vegetable preparation, possessing the prope ti< s of the plants from which it is derived in a highly concentrated state, a fact which I have verified by evaporating a fluid drachm plated in a watcbglaeß over a spirit lamp. On weighing tbe result, a dark green «xtracr, I found the weight to be 14-i gte. On further submitting the extract to analysis I found it to be rich in tannin. In a largo number of Cbses of ordinary diarrhoea, as well as in many chronic cases and in dysentery, I have proved it to possess great specific control, added to the unusual feature in a m»jority of diarrhoea medicim s, that it doe3 not subsequently constipate the bowels. I feel salisfied that from the nu 'nber of trials I have been enabltd to make of it in a somewhat extensive practice, it is a roost valuable addition to modern therapeu • ics. The following cases ara taken at ran torn from my note-book ;■ — Case No 1 ; Mrs M , West Eyerton, Buffering for two years from Chronic Dysentery, which had reduced her ulmost to a skeleton. After a fortnight'* trial not only had the diarrhoea shopped, but she commenced eating meat ■without pain and the ÜBual concomitnnt vomiting. In two monthß she had gained 181b8 weight. Oa*e No 2. : A. G., child aged 5 yeare. Fortnight diarrhoea. Was effectually cured on the third day.
