[Copy urgent telegram from Dr MacCartby.] Arrow, March I7tn, 1833.—T0 Horace D. Monk, Dunedin :, Bend large diarrhoea bottle Duncan, Koxhurgh, through by coach Monday inormng without fail.— C. MacOarthy. Rangiora, July 7, 1881. Sir --Having carefully examined tbe N.Z, Herbal Extract, I find it to be a skilfully prepured vegetable preparation, possessing the propetties of the plants from which it is derived in a highly concentrated state, a fact which I bave verified by evaporating a fluid iirnchm placed in a watohglaeß over a spirit lamp. On weighing tke result, a dark green extract, I found the weight to be 14i gre. On further submitting the extract to analysis I found ifc to be rich in tannin. In a large number of cuses of ordinary diarrhoea, aa well as in many chronic cases and in dysentery, I have piovtd it to poßßeaa great specific control, added to the unusual feature in a majority of dim" hemi medicines, that it does not subsequently constipate the bowels. I feel satisfied that . frora the number of trials I have been umbk'd to make of it in a somewhat extensive pniftico, it is a . most valuable addition to nio '■■ em therapeutics. The following cases are taken at. vundoin from my note-book : — Case jSo. 1 ; Mrs M , West Eyerton, Buffering for two years from Chronic Dyßentery, which bad reduced her almost to a skeleton. After a fortnight's trial not only had the diarrhoea slopped, but she commenced eating meat ■without pain and the übubl concomitnnt vomiting. In two months she had gained IBlbs weight. Case No 2. : A. G., child aged 5 yeare. Fortnight diarrhoea. Was effectually cured on the third day. Case No. 3 : A soldier who had contracted dysentery in India got a bitiall two-ounce phial, and was well before he had finished half of it.— Charles DkLacy MacCaethy,M.A,, M.8., etc, Trinity College, Dublin.
